Summer is Here!

June 21st, 2008 | Category: General

Hello Everyone. I hope you are doing well.

It’s been a long time.  I apologize for being gone so long.  It’s been a very busy time at work and at home.  I’ve been doing my best to help Beth prepare our son Alex for kindergarten (shots and school meetings for his food allergy plan at school), end of the year school and church activities, Audrey’s baptism and dance recital.  It’s been a busy time for the Murphy’s and now it’s summer.  As I think of all these things  going on and now all 3 kids are at home everyday with Beth, it leads me to my writings today. 1 Samuel 30 tells the story of David overtaking the Amalekites.  David wanted to destroy them because they had raided Negev and Ziklag, taking captive all the wives, sons and children.  While David and his army of 600 men headed to destroy the Amalekites, 200 men were too tired to cross the Besor Ravine.  David left them there and went out with the other 400 men.  The 200 left behind kept watch over the supplies.  After David and his men overtook the Amalekites they took their flocks and herds.  When they returned to the 200 men, David began to share with these men who watched over their supplies.  Well, the 400 that were on the front lines in battle did not like it.  They felt it was not fair and that they did all the work.  David then wrote a law proclaiming that everyone is equal no matter what their job is.  Whether someone is on the front lines or a support group to the front lines, they are equal and we must share alike.   1 Samuel 24-25  “Who will listen to what you say? The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same as that of him who went down to the battle. All will share alike.  David made this a statute and ordinance for Israel from that day to this.”  As I must remember Beth and the support she is to my ministry.  I could not do it without her. She is my supply keeper and my encouragement.  Although she is unable to travel with me and be right there on the front line, she is equal in my ministry.    If you are part of a ministry or a job that requires a bookkeeper, secretary, support, encouragement, etc., remember they are equal no matter what the work load.  If you are the supporter like Beth remember your job is just as vital to the entire group, even though it might not feel as glamorous.  We are all equal in what we do, to bring the ministry out to whomever you are trying to reach!

May God bless you this week and remember that person or persons this week.

Tell them thank you or encourage them for what they are doing.
